Oprah Has Lost Her Mind
I just had to say it. Oprah's new book club book (A New Earth), and all this web cast garbage is just driving me bonkers.
Maybe I should have labeled this post: "Warning, Daiquiri is feeling ornery today"!
I've been spending time on Oprah's message boards to see what people think of the book she's promoting. I'm known as "Little Miss Christian" over there. And to be honest? I'm tired of trying to be the sweet little Christian woman who gently and lovingly tries to steer people to the Bible. What I really want to do is SCREAM...No! This is all lies! These are dangerous lies!
I wonder if this kind of anger that I'm feeling is at all similar to the way Jesus felt when he turned over tables and drove people out with a whip when he found them using God's house as a place to earn a buck? Yes, that's right. Jesus got angry. He got so angry that he got violent about it. Remember...God is love and peace and mercy...but he is also holy and just and righteous. He is love and peace and mercy on HIS terms, not ours.
It makes me furious to see Jesus...who he is and what he did...be pushed to the sidelines while people are searching for the "heaven within".
Heaven is real.
God is real.
God's love for us is real and is knowable.
Jesus is much more than a wise prophet or teacher.
Hell is real.
Satan is real.
Sin is real.
Yes, God is love...but he is ALSO Holy. He is also Just. He is also Faithful.
And honestly? It's making me so dang mad that someone in Oprah's influential position is promoting garbage like this...while also calling herself a Christian!
What exactly does she think it means to be a Christian? I'd love to know. But of course, the mighty Miss Winfrey is above answering questions like this.
So that's my rant for today. I should also say that I've been praying for Oprah. I've been praying for the truth to be revealed to her. I've been praying for the people who hang on her every word like it's infallible. I've been praying for all of this New Age hooey to blow over so people stop getting sucked into it.
Pray, folks. This is a battle. Not a battle for ratings or for money or for popularity. It's a battle for souls.
Do you want to know more about what's going on? Here you go:
Read a FoxNews.com article about it
Read a Probe Ministries article about it
Read a Baptist Messenger article about it
I promise to get back to cute kid pictures and helpful hints and tips now that I got that out of my system ;)
I agree with you, Daiquiri--if God got ahold of Oprah's heart, she could be a powerful tool for Him! She has such influence in the world, and for her to repent and speak of the truth of sin and the need for Christ...so many could be reached. But sometimes I think of what the Bible says about false teachers in the latter days...I don't stop praying for change, but I also know we could very well be in those latter days now, when even those who profess to be Christian--even some who are pastors of churches--are leading people away from the true gospel.
Awesome post!
Amen! I don't know a lot about the book, because I'm just not interested in knowing more, and the stuff on her show made me feel like I was watching one big infomercial. I do know it took me about 2 seconds to realize what bunch of hooey it all was, and how it's definitely going to bring people away from God, not closer to him. So sad!

I completely agree with you. I think you are so brave to participate in the message boards over there but I am SO glad you are. I do not feel I have a strong enough voice. What she is doing is just scary. I am praying for you.
Please let me know how I can help you. I spent the better part of the last hour reading those message boards and felt this nearly overwhelming sense of darkness the entire time. I am going to go and reread Eph 6:10-20 where Paul talks about the Armor of God. I do know that the battle is not against flesh and blood. I also know the shield of faith can extinguish ALL the flaming arrows of the enemy. I will continue to pray for you and for those being led astray.
A great post. I just found your blog through the Bloggy Giveaways, but I will be sure to be back. I love finding other bloggers who believe the same as I do and are not afraid to say it respectfully. :-)
I'm totally coming in late on this post, but I just wanted to say, "YES, YES, YES!" Being a Christian isn't just believing Jesus was a real person or a prophet...He's the son of God! I am so confused when my Christian friends talk about their strange dedication to the woman (Oprah)--so much so that they can't skip an episode.
I could go on about her messiah complex, but it's just too sad. I think she is the prime example that money can't buy you happiness, love, and especially not salvation...reminds me of the rich man Jesus met on the road who, when he was given the choice to be rich or saved, he chose rich...with Jesus standing directly in front of him!!!
I know Oprah's been exposed to true Christianity. We need to pray that Oprah would stop looking to be the answer, but that she would find THE answer in Jesus Christ.
--oh, and Daiquiri, post away on the message boards. Shine your light!
